How Often Do You Eat Now That You Are Pregnant? Less Or More?
Category: Uncategorized
I feel like I eat less, I know I should eat more. But I usually eat two meals a day and snack once a day. I feel it isn’t enough but my weight gain is normal and what not.. I just dont have that hearty appetite that I was supposed to get.. So I usually eat lunch and dinner, which maybe a snack after dinner. Is that normal? Should I force myself to eat more? How often do you eat now that you are pregnant?

Don’t force yourself to eat, that could only cause you to become sick and possibly throw up everything you had just consumed! Ask your doctor if they feel you need to be eating more. It’s not necessarily how often you have to eat but how many calories you need to consume. Most doctors will tell a pregers woman to have 4-six small meals (snacks as well) a day to keep the baby (and mommy) efficiently fed and popped full of nutrients. A pregnant woman (normal weight women prior to pregnancy) should be consuming an extra 300 calories each day during the last 6 months of pregnancy. This totals about 1,900 to 2,500 calories a day. I had the same problem when I was pregers with my daughter. I had actually lost my appetite during my first trimester, but my weight gain was appropriate. Breakfast is honestly the most important meal for a pregnant woman, mainly because of the 6-10 hours of sleep where the body is deprived of nutrients, waiting until lunch to eat causes your body to begin depleting other resources, which is not only dangerous for you, but your baby as well. When your body begins to break down it’s stored fat, toxins are released into your system… no good.

No one can give you the ‘correct’ answer aside from your doctor. He/She knows your body and medical history best and can tell you what steps you can take if need be; or whether or not you are fine. Make sure you’re taking your prenatals as well!!!
Good luck to you, and congrats on your pregnancy!

The obvious answer is to check with your Dr, but I think as long as you’re not eating “junk,” gaining appropriate weight and taking your prenatal vitamins, you should be fine. When in doubt, I often consult “the book,” as my husband has started referring to it. (What to Expect When You’re Expecting) According to this, you shouldn’t really compare yourself to others, b/c everyone is different. But, since you asked, I personally have been eating less at lunch b/c I feel full really quickly, but then I have more snacks throughout the day than I usually do. I think everyone is different, but as long as you’re putting healthy foods in, I think you should be fine. I always say “Oh crap. Look at what I’m feeding my baby today.” If I happen to forget my lunch and have to make a run to McDs or something.
Anyway, I’m sure that was completey unhelpful, but best of luck! And congrats on your impending bundle of joy!

You are almost due so you must be getting bigger, you should eat less more often, the bigger you get the smaller your stomach gets cuz the baby is now pushing against the stomach, the more you eat the more chances of getting sick or even heart burn. So Eat a small breakfast mid morning snack, lunch, afternon snack and dinner, they dont have to be huge just high in protien and carbs.

You need to eat more often. My doctor explained this to me as I went in once for my check up and she found ketones in my urine. If you don’t eat often enough, you body starts to burn its own fat which produces ketones. Ketones are a poison and in large enough amounts can cause brain damage to the baby. This is why it is important to keep a steady supply of nutrients to the baby. It’s not just about you anymore! What I do to get around it is to eat very small amounts, but spaced out through the day so that I am not eating too much or more than I need, and my baby is still getting a constant supply.

The important part is that your eating healthy! I was like you in the begining and hardly ate, but how can you with Morning sickness. My doctors told me to eat what I could, just make sure it was healthy and in between meals to drink a Boost, for extra protein to gain some weight. Don’t force yourself to eat either, thats not good for you.

Im right there with you… 27 weeks, and all I eat is maybe a bowl of cereal for breakfast and leftovers for lunch (or another bowl of cereal) and then thats it. I probably should eat more, but Ive already gained too much weight!! Dont force yourself to eat more-just do whats comfortable for your body.

first off how far along are you? i know that when i was pregnant i had HORRIBLE morning sickness the entire time so during the first 4 months or so i barely ate… when i talked to my doctor about it he told me to drink 1/2 gatorade 1/2 water and that will keep your electrolytes up, but if you are really that concerned talk to your doctor about it!

During my 1st tri I wasn’t hungry at all and very sick with morning sickness. Starting around 24 weeks I ate all the time! Seriously, like every two hours! I gained weight really quick. Now that I’m in my 3rd tri, baby boy is pressing on my stomach and I can’t each much at one time, but I do eat often. Not as much as the 2nd tri though.

I never ate a lot before, and almost eat less now but when I’m hungry I eat! I also have started carrying half frozen apple juice with me (I despise water, and need my fruit anyway lol) around EVERYWHERE and a granola bar when I’m out and about. Don’t force yourself to eat.

No don’t force yourself to eat. If you’re full, you’re full. As long as you’re eating “right” then you really have nothing to worry about. I’ve found that I eat pretty small meals but I might have anywhere from 3 to 5 meals a day. I’m sure you’re doing just fine.

i’m eating more than before. it’s ok to not eat that much, as long as you are eating healthy – try to have some fresh fruit or snack on vegetables and drink plenty of water.

At the beginning of my pregnancy I would eat less because I would feel nauseous all day. I would try to eat more but I couldn’t. Now that the nausea has gotten easier I get hungry like every 2 hours so I eat more now.

eat with what you feel comfortable. Try bringing snacks with you and constantly nibbling, you’ll get the nutrients you need and not feel like you’re stuffing yourself

How far along are you? Most get more of an appetite around 18 weeks. I would suggest you eat something even if its just toast or an apple for breakfast.

You should eat more during early months of pregnancy. But slow down during the few week before delivery.

Its what your body tells you to eat dont force your self to eat because you think you have to.

No, it will eventually grow. Don’t worry, besides you don’t start getting big until almost eight months.
